ABOUT ME
|
Born and raised in New York City, I've lived in Texas long enough to have no idea who I am. (See: The Yankee Chick's Survival Guide to Texas.)
I started my publishing career as a graphic artist before transitioning to writing, cutting my teeth at The Dallas Morning News back in the days when newspapers mattered. I spent many years as a staff and then freelance travel writer (see 100 Places in the USA Every Woman Should Go), as well as writing on wide-ranging topics for newspapers, magazines, and websites nationwide. I've blogged for Psychology Today since 2009, first about introversion (see: The Introvert's Way and Introverts in Love, now about being widowed (see: Widow's Walk). My primary source of income and professional satisfaction these days is editing others' books--deep respect for everyone who actually sits down and completes one. That is an accomplishment in itself. When I'm not hunched over a computer, I enjoy road tripping, yoga, watercolor painting, and my friends. I am also a crazy dog lady whose days are dictated by Daisy and Millie, a couple of demanding (and spoiled--it's my own fault) quadrupeds. |
